Goals
to promote natural resource and environmental conservation through promotion of eco-tourism as an alternative source of livelihood among communities living around Lake Victoria wetlands
Activities
Capacities building for LVSB members and local groups on activities that promote eco-tourism like tour guiding skills, value improvement on wetland products.
Carry out weekly bird walks around Dunga area to develop bird checklists for the area.
Marketing dunga swamp and other Lake Victoria wetlands as tourist sites in the region.
Provide tour guiding services for local and international tourists in the western region of Kenya.
Development of partnerships between local groups and other organizations to promote the conservation of dunga and other swamps around Lake Victoria.
Working in collaboration with the group’s Monitoring department to undertake periodic surveys of Lake Victoria Wetlands as Important Bird Areas.
Bird watching as the main activity
Bird watching in Kisumu
Experience bird watching at its best during our every Friday bird walks starting from 7.00 a.m.
The walks cover areas around Impala park sanctuary, Hippo point, Kisumu sewage ponds and Dunga swamp (home to the globally threatened papyrus gonolek).
The charges for the walks are Kshs. 500 per person for any person willing to join in the bird walks.

LVSB also organizes bird watching excursions out of Kisumu town at affordable rates. Areas of interest include;
